Hey, I thought this was great. Nice pace, interesting content, fun production.

Whooh, $5 million for Wallstrip…someone really got lucky. Will be interesting to see how that progresses.

Zadi - 05/16/2007 00:33:27

Religion and politics should go for a dirty hot and heavy romp in the hay and have a love child. heh. :)

Kidding. That would be some fugly love child (hrm.America.cough.). Best for each to live a life of celibacy… get separate rooms… something.

I like my political cereal w/o religious nuts. Pls k thx bai. ;)

Politics and politicians are destroying people’s view of religion and people of faith. Power absolutely corrupts. So I say keep them separate but it is difficult to do because your religious views (or lack of) shapes your perspective on the world and the role of government. Render unto Caesar.

haha… the same cute adorable charismatic amanda from back in ‘04 :D just discovered your new blog today… great job :)

what kind of lighting do you use to make your videos so beautiful? i bought a halogen worklight but it emits a lot of heat and turns the image more yellow-ish than white. are you just using natural light for this one?

email me back if you can :)

I ain’t a religious and not really into politics. I don’t think both mix very well. I guess I am some what of a believer in Deism :/…

Walter Crespo - 05/16/2007 04:43:28

Awesome Amanda, would really love to see more of this, I dig your writing but I must say I also enjoy watching you have fun with the links. :-)

i tend to believe that it’s the group mentality that is the bigger foe. individuals tend to be understanding, compassionate beings. in a group, they somehow lose their rationality and make generalizations that impede everyone’s forward movement. religion just seems to be the most “ok” form of group mentality.

Marius - 05/16/2007 07:57:36

IMHO, religion and politics have both become bloated, mutated B-movie monster versions of what they once were. Religion began as a way for scared people to try to understand the world around them, and then to ingrain a moral code into growing societies. Politics began as a way to govern large groups of people as they began to gather in large towns as opposed to loose tribes. Now both have morphed over the centuries to become self-serving beaurocracies/theocracies whose main goals seem to be power over the masses they profess to serve. God and the dollar go hand in hand now, and lobbyist are the true high priests. Separating religion and politics is about as practical as getting the NRA to actually read the entire text of the 2nd amendment. It’s a great idea, but I doubt I’ll see it in my lifetime.

Love the mini-vlog(are we still allowed to use that term?), BTW. :-)

Whoohoo, best in a long while Amanda! :)

Hmm, I thought secularization was one of the bigger archievements of the last couple centuries… ah well, we’re throwing all civil rights overboard anyway, why not be ruled by grace of god again in the long run. For the average drone it won’t mean much difference.

Howzit Amanda,

Awesome, that’s what I’ve been looking for since Rocketboom. You have interesting stories and a great way of looking at life. You’re cute and have a great smile too. Love your skits with Kate, funny. You’re the Lucille Ball of the net! The politics and religion is always so serious. So instead of me adding my opinion. Give me yours with a bit of wit and your great sense of humor.

Mahalo,
Waikiki guy

Hey, I like this format. Go Amanda! You should definitely do more of these.

I don’t think you can separate politics from religion — people will vote based on their values, which many form from religion — but definitely, government and religion should be separate. In other words, elected officials should work to represent all the people, not just the people who voted for them.

BunsandChouChou - 05/21/2007 01:58:08

It gets better and better, funnier and funnier – than ever.

Clintus McGintus - 05/22/2007 21:28:00

Man took me forever to get to this item in my reader. Love the video version. and yes religion and politics should be mixed, its the next logical step.
