Nashville is Talking » Our Ears Were Burning - 04/17/2007 17:27:11

[...] Terry Heaton, creator of Nashville is Talking, sat on the opening panel of RTNDA@NAB to talk about the changing face of television media. NiT is mentioned a couple of times in this 64 min. video (raw footage) of the panel yesterday, hosted at Starring Amanda Congdon. Watch and/or listen, if you are so inclined. Interesting discussion.
I am a big fan of Yahoo! News.

Thanks for posting this. I was hoping to get to hear what Terry had to say about me.

JoeC - 04/18/2007 00:47:26

Wow, thanks for posting this. I saw the bites elsewhere, but hearing it all is great. Uncut video is so much more “truthy” :)

Very interesting discussion the entire panel were great. Very smart people and great topic, very cool Amanda, you really are groovy. :-) I actually saw this earlier today on Myspace but I could’nt get over here until now, life can be nutty at times. :-)

Thanks for making this raw stuff available to us.
I see they are still trying to pigeonhole you Amanda and it’s good to see that you aren’t letting them. I don’t understand how this DuPont thing has been made into such a big deal.

It is good to see and hear the differing viewpoints and the raw real life stuff that you and your peers produce is here to stay.

Thanks

Michael

Amanda, is Miles O’Brian really that clueless?

amandac2 - 04/18/2007 17:28:42

Hey Joe– actually, I think Miles is really brilliant. Sometimes you wonder whether these mainstream anchors are just prompter readers without brains, but Miles is the real deal. His point about Rosenblum’s camera (about branding) I felt was one of the best contributions made during the panel. I’m a Miles fan. :)

Whooo-hooo
Things certainly got riled up when that guy asked you about DuPont-gate. You could hear the buzz and feel the tension. I thought your answer was poised, honest and excellent. Great session…watched the whole thing. Also great to see Jeff Jarvis right up front with his cam, and Zadi’s remark about the “echo chamber” made me LOL. Thanks for putting this up.

The guy who said that he is skeptical about new media because it relies on old media for the stories has no point. There is nothing stopping a new media journalist from getting an inside story. Right now most of you aggregate, which means you aren’t really journalists, but old media is not needed for the source news. In my opinion new media aggregators will start to hire people to get the scoop, it’s only a matter of the industry maturing. Or am i completely off base?

That was interesting. Thanks for posting it in full.

You crazy Americans certainly do love to over-abbreviate (I’m British by the way). I’ve been trying to work out what RTNDA@NAB means. Some posibilities are: right turn not directionally accurate at naturally alcohol beverage, or round turnip needs digesting absolutely at national aeronautics board. Did I guess correctly?
